Target Audience

The special distance learning project is intended for children between 5-15 years of age.

Project Mission

The project will contribute to the promotion of Georgian language and culture among Georgian children living abroad as well as their approximation with Georgia.

Details for Georgian language Distance Learning Program :

  • Lessons are taught online by professional teachers simultaneously (in an online mode, at a time agreed with members of groups)
  • Children get engaged in an online teaching space with the help of their parent/tutors (only a computer and internet access are needed)
  • Virtual classroom is provided by Microsoft (Skype for Business, Microsoft Classroom)
  • Proposed online lessons are based on an interactive mode of teaching
  • The process involves ‘learning by playing’ method
  • Illustrated and visualized exercises

Distance language course features

Duration of online language class: 20-25 minutes

Number of students per group: 5-6 students

Student’s age: 5-15 years

Georgian Language proficiency: none, minimal, intermediate

Groups are comprised of age peers and students with equal linguistic competence

Pilot Project

The pilot project has been successfully implemented in the United Kingdom. In the frame of the pilot project, 15 lessons were organized. Satisfaction was expressed by users about simultaneous method of online teaching as well as approaches and visual learning materials employed by teachers

Expansion of the project

According to the experience of the pilot project in the UK and elicited high degree of interest in other countries as well, the Ministry of Education and Science decided to expand the scale of the project and replicate it elsewhere.
